YOU'RE NOT FAILING.

You’re Just Trying to Solve The Wrong Problem

Most golfers aren't short on information.

They've watched the videos. Tried the drills. Changed their swing thoughts. Maybe taken lessons or bought new equipment.

Some of it works — for a while. Then the same misses come back.

The problem isn't necessarily the advice. It's knowing what applies to you.

Your ball flight, swing, movement, practice habits and ability to transfer changes to the course are connected. Treating one symptom without understanding the bigger picture often leads right back to where you started.

Before you decide what to change, you need to know what's actually limiting your progress.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF...

  • You've been playing long enough to know you should be improving faster than you are.

  • You've tried lessons, videos, drills or swing changes — but you're still not sure what actually deserves your attention.

  • Your game can feel completely different from one round to the next.

  • You're tired of collecting more advice without knowing what applies to your golf game.

    And most importantly:

  • You're serious about getting better — you just want a clearer path to get there.

You don't need another golf tip. You need to know where your development should start.

A Better Process Creates Better Golfers

Von already had plenty of golf skill. His short game was a strength, but his longer clubs—especially driver—were unpredictable. One round could be in the low 80s and the next in the mid-90s. His common miss was low and left, distance suffered as the clubs got longer, and he had no clear explanation for why.

STARTING POINT

As Von tried to create more speed, his upper body began taking over. His shoulder plane became extremely flat, reverse spine angle increased, and he had very little awareness of where his swing path was moving. Those patterns were forgiving enough with shorter clubs. The longer the club became, the less room there was for compensation.

WHAT I FOUND

Instead of treating the driver as an isolated problem, I helped Von understand the movement patterns underneath it. The priority became improving how his body organized the swing, understanding plane and sequence, and giving him specific movements and feels that could carry through the entire bag.

THE PRESCRIPTION

Von now plays much more consistently in the high 70s and low 80s. The dramatic swings between good golf and frustrating golf have narrowed because he understands what creates his tendencies instead of treating every poor driving day as a new problem.

THE RESULT

From Picking Up to Consistently Shooting in the 90s

Branson came to me essentially learning golf from scratch. He wasn't keeping score because too many holes ended with him picking up. His swing had been built largely through YouTube, advice from others, and trial and error, leaving him with no clear understanding of where the ball was going or why.

STARTING POINT

There wasn't one swing fault to fix. There were several—sway, over-the-top movement, early release, scooping, loss of posture, and early extension—along with physical restrictions that made some of the movements I wanted him to create more difficult. Trying to attack every visible problem would have only added more swing thoughts.

WHAT I FOUND

I started underneath the swing. Branson worked on his physical capacity, improved his movement awareness, slowed the golf swing down, and learned how to organize a repeatable backswing before worrying about full-speed performance. In his first 3 months, his Golf Fitness Handicap improved from 30 to 19. From there, the technical work became easier because his body and his understanding were developing with it.

THE PRESCRIPTION

THE RESULT

Eight months later, Branson consistently shoots in the 90s and will be in the 80’s very soon. More importantly, he recognizes his tendencies, communicates what he's feeling, makes adjustments, and can now go significantly longer between lessons without returning with an entirely new problem.

Improvement Should Follow a Process

The Tailored Golf System was built around a simple idea: Don't start with the solution. Start by understanding the golfer.

Every golfer can move through this process differently.

That's why the starting point matters.

I'm Justin Langhill, golf performance coach and creator of the Tailored Golf System.

My approach combines golf instruction, biomechanics, human movement and performance training to answer a question traditional swing instruction can sometimes overlook:

Why is this golfer producing this pattern in the first place?

With advanced education through TPI and NASM and more than a decade coaching golf and athletic performance, I've learned that lasting improvement rarely comes from simply finding another swing thought.

It comes from understanding the golfer, identifying the right limitation and building the right solution around it.

That's the thinking behind the Tailored Golf System — and the assessment you're about to take.

Learn why your swing produces its current patterns.

Build the movements and skills your game requires.

Turn new movements into repeatable habits.

Bring your progress from practice to the course.
